Pre-assessment information

Developmental and medical history from parents or carers, school and teacher collateral, rating scales, and any previous CAMHS, paediatric, psychology or EHCP reports.

Specialist diagnostic assessment

A full clinical assessment with the Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist — developmental and psychiatric history, observer reports and mental state assessment.

Formulation and written report

Diagnostic conclusion against recognised criteria, functional impact across settings, coexisting conditions, strengths and support needs, plus school recommendations and a treatment plan.

Treatment and follow-up

Where medication is appropriate, initiation, titration and monitoring are provided in clinic. Shared-care prescribing by an NHS GP depends on the individual practice and local NHS arrangements, and cannot be guaranteed.
